CHISAGO COUNTY FAIR
2008 DEMOLITION DERBY
GENERAL
RULES:
1. Drivers
run at their own risk
2. Drivers
must be 16 years or older, drivers under 18 must have
notarized written consent of parent
3. No one
is allowed in pits under the age of 16 - must have picture
ID for proof of age
4. No alcoholic
beverages in pit area
5. Only
derby vehicle and one tow vehicle in pits - no spectators
parking in pits
6. All
cars not removed by 9:00am the following day will become
property of the Chisago County Fair Board
7. Drivers
must wear a seat belt or harness, helmet, and eye protection
at all times when operating vehicle – long sleeves,
jeans, and/or fire suit highly recommended
8. No hot
rodding in the pits, keep it at an idle
9. DO NOT
hit the driver’s door – it sometimes happens, but if
it looks intentional or careless, you will be disqualified
10. 2 fires in one heat you are
done
11. You are given 1 minute for aggressive
hits, 1 minute for restarts and 1 minute if you are
hung up – being hit, hitting the wall, or hitting disabled
vehicles do not count
12. NO sandbagging or holding!!!
You will be disqualified!!!
13. All cars must enter west gate
of fairgrounds at least one hour before event
14. Judges reserve the right to
disqualify any and/or all latecomers.
15. Drivers and pit person must
be present during inspection
16. All drivers and crewmembers
must attend the drivers meeting.
17. Judges reserve the right to
re-inspect and disqualify any vehicle during event
18. Any harassment of judges or
Fair Board members by drivers or pit person will result
in disqualification and be banned from any further Fair
Board Sponsored event
19. Disqualification results in
forfeiture of entry fee
20. Any controversies will be taken
up at the drivers meeting

are automatically OUT!
23. JUDGE’S DECISIONS ARE FINAL!
GENERAL PREPARATION RULES: **These rules apply to all classes**
1. All
glass, plastic, and pot metal must be removed from the
vehicle – nothing may remain in the bottom of the doors
or trunks and all outside hardware must be removed –
i.e. mirrors, lights, chrome, molding, screws, fiber
glass, etc
2. All
flammable materials inside the cab must be removed except
necessary safety padding and seat
3.
All vehicles must have a driver’s seat securely
mounted to the floor
4.
Safety padding is recommend around the driver’s
area
5.
All vehicles must exhibit the ability to stop,
THIS MEANS WORKING BRAKES!!!!
6.
Vehicles must be safe to run and drive
7.
No dirty or vulgar language on vehicle
8.
Must have 12” x 12” (min) roof sign securely
fastened with vehicle number visible or it will not
run.
9.
Vehicles may add protection over the driver’s
window.
10. Original gas
tanks must be removed from the vehicle
11. A steel or
marine type fuel tank must be bolted or welded in, not
screwed inside the cab, behind the driver’s
seat for cars and in the front-center of the bed for
pick-ups – NO plastic tanks
12. The tank must
be bolted or welded to the floor and secured with steel
straps - NO ratchet straps, bungee cords or zip ties
are allowed
13. Your fuel
line must be inside cab and may not go down through
the floor and along the frame rail
14. Electric fuel
pumps are allowed
15. A maximum
of 2 standard automotive or 1 large industrial battery
may be used
16. Batteries
must be securely mounted inside the cab and covered
in a steel box.
17. Steel transmission
coolers will be allowed
18. Metal, steel
braided, or approved transmission lines must be used
– NO fuel or low pressure line may be used
19. ANY bolts
from seats, battery boxes, fuel tanks, transmission
coolers, etc. that extend through the frame or sub-frame
will count as a body mount - please reference the class
rules for how many are allowed
20. Floor shifters
and headers are allowed
21. Trailer hitches
must be completely removed
22. If bumpers
are removed, the bumper prods must be removed or trimmed
23. Any attempt
to cover frames by buffing, grinding, coating with grease,
glue, mud, etc, will result in immediate disqualification
24. Minimal pre-bending
of body is allowed - NO tucking, wedging, or packing
allowed – must have access to inspect
25. Hoods must
be open for inspection
26. A 12” x 12”
(min) hole must be cut above the carburetor
27. NO split rims
or studded tires
28. Foam filled,
doubled tires, and valve steam protectors are allowed
29. NO snow, bar,
or lug tires on drive wheels, regardless of tread condition
30. Radiators
must have a secured vent down and filled with water
or ice only
32. Any combination
of engine, transmission, and rear end may be used -
SEE CLASS RULES
33. Bends or bubbles
on the frame or sub-frame may be fixed on pre-ran vehicles
– it may not extend more than 2” past affected area.
The frame may be patched with 3 gauge (1/4”) or thinner
PICKUPS
- STOCK FULL SIZE
- Only ½ tons to 1 tons allowed. No dually’s,
4x4’s allowed with front drive shaft removed.
- Driver’s door my be reinforced with steel
not to extend more than 1” from original body
or 4” beyond front to back of door seams. Under
floor on driver’s side only you may run channel
or angle from frame to rocker only on drivers side
and from back of drivers seat to firewall
- May install dash pipe no larger than 3” diameter
pipe with 5” x 5” x ¼” pads
on each and between front door posts. A kicker may
be added from dash pipe to passenger rocker, no larger
than 3” diameter with a 5”x 5” x
¼” pad on the end. A diagonal pipe may
be added behind the seat.
- Cab and box may be bolted down with no more than
8 additional ¾ bolts between cab and box. Washers
cannot exceed 6” diameter.
- Box may be welded to cab with 4- 4” x 4”
x¼” pads on the sides, or 4-¾”
bolts with 4” x 4” washers can be used,
also a 2x2” angle iron on top front of box to
attach box to cab.
- Tailgates must be welded on and in stock position
- IF TAILGATE FALLS OFF YOU ARE DISQUALIFIED.
- All doors must be tied shut with single loop chain
or 4-2” x 4” pads per door.
- One strap per side may be welded over taillight
hole. Max of 4” wide ¼” thick and
may not exceed 3” beyond each side of the light
hole.
- Two straps allowed from front hood to bottom of
radiator support or bumper which must not exceed 2”x¼”.
Stock radiators or radii barrels allowed, may run
a radiator support between frame rails under radiator
no bigger than ¼” x 2 x 4”.
- Radii barrels must be inside frame rails (top and
bottom) and must be bolted in 4 places maximum to
core support. The barrels can be 3” thick outside
to outside and must be vented down.
- Hoods: All hoods must be able to be opened for
inspection; they must have a 12”-14” hole
over the carburetor. If you use strap judges must
be able to see clearly through the hood. It would
be a good idea to bolt straps to hood or together.
4 chains or 4-¾” rods may be used to
hold hood down. Rods/chains may be welded to the frame.
- Rims: No split rims, welded rims allowed.
- If floor is not there you may weld in a floor not
to exceed 1/8” thickness and may not be attached
to the frame. Judges will have a drill and if it is
a question it will be checked.
- Gas tanks: stock tanks must be removed. Trucks
must have tank in the box and in front of the rear
axle. Max. 6 gallon tank and must be securely fastened.
(No plastic tanks) No ratchet straps, bungee cords,
or zip ties allowed.
- Engine in vehicle does not have to be same manufacturer
as the body. Motor mounts may be welded. Two additional
straps may be used but must be behind the water pump
pulley in front of the carburetor no bigger than ¼”x2”x24”
or 2 chains min 5/16” single loop chain 24”
long.
- You my run -2”x2”x¼” angle
or tubing max from core support to frame, no further
back than center of front axle to hold sore support
up. 2x2x¼” angle or tubing may be added
to top of core support.
- Also look at the general rules as they may apply
to every pit person and every driver.
- Any automotive bumper is allowed. No stuffing of
any kind.
- Rear bumpers that are removed, frame rails need
to be capped using 4” channel or angle not to
extend further than the frame rail width.
- Suspension welding allowed-NO LIFT KITS.
Modified
Pickups - Full Size & Compacts
1.
Pick-ups Only. No vans or SUV's.
2.
3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks allowed, without
dual rear wheels. No split rims allowed.
3.
Radi-Barrels will be allowed. Must be in
stock position, up to 3" wide by the width of the
frame. Must be vented.
4.
Bracing will be allowed from radiator core
support, to the back side of the cab. No exposed bracing
allowed!! All bracing must be under sheet meat. No limits
inside the cab!!
5. If running a 4x4 pick-up, front suspension must remain
at stock height. It can be welded solid, so it won't
drop!!
6. No cross bracing of box. Only bracing inside the box
will be allowed around your gear (gas tank, tranny cooler,
battery), but braces cannot connect to box sides. To
floor or frame only.
7.
V-8 engines are allowed in Little Trucks.
Compact
Cars
- All
cars must be standard compact makes. Maximum wheel
base is 102". Motors must be 6 cylinder or smaller.
- No welding from center of front wheels back except:
- Four 4" x 4" patches on the trunk
and passenger door
- Passenger door can have one 2" strap from
the rocker to the roof.
- Anything goes on driver's door, but may not
extend more than 2" out from body and no
more than 6" past door seams.
- Floor patch on driver's side only, to hold
feet up. No full floor plating
- Radi-Barrels
will be allowed. Must be in stock position, up to
3" wide by the width of the frame. Must be vented.
- One sub-bold per side, front & back will be allowed,
using a 4" x 4" plate.
- No larger than 3" diameter dash bars allowed. May
only have a kicker on driver's side to the floor.
- Hood must have 8" x 8" hole over the carburetor
for inspections.
- Bumpers
may be welded on. rear bumper may only have stock
brackets welded with no extra metal added.
- There
must be at least 12 entries for a contest.
Semi-Stock
Cars
-
All cars must be standard makes. No convertibles.
No Imperial subs under Newports, Furys, Monacos, etc.
No frame swapping period.
- Any reinforcing IS allowed from center of the front
hubs forward. Anything goes- angle, channel, cement,
tubing, etc.
- Frame, fenders, hood, and inner fenders, from center
of front hubs to the fire wall must be 100% stock.
NO plating, stuffing, or welding allowed. NO welding
inner fender to frame. NO MEANS NO!!! If there is
anything added to these areas, you will be disqualified.
No cutting allowed to make the rules. If disqualified
the first night, you will not be able to run the next
night after cutting, grinding, etc. You are out!!!
- Nothing running from the dash bar forward, except
tabs holding the dash bar to the dash. Anything on
engine side of dash to center of front hubs and you
are out.
- Driver and passenger compartment may be reinforced
for protection as follows: No welding to frame
- Dash bar and X brace allowed, welded to tin
only - 4" x 4" patches allowed, no rear
dash bars
- Frames may be bolted up with a total of four
3/4" bolts, patches no larger than 6"
- No added reinforcement to floors.
- Gas tank, Battery Box and tranny cooler may
be bolted through or welded to the floor (not
the frame) no added steel
- Hood & trunk can have two bolts through frame
to trunk lid (not larger then 3/4" diameter bolts).
No larger than 6" x 6" plates and/or washers
may be used. Trunk lid may be patch welded or seam
welded. NO reinforcing in trunk, period. MUST HAVE
12" x 12" HOLE IN CENTER OF TRUNK LID FOR
INSPECTIONS (this means 12x12, not 10" or 11").
Rear bumper may be welded to sheet metal.
- Frame hump over rear wheels may not be reinforced
in any manner.
- Doors may be patch welded or seam welded.
- NO welding in any "NON-WELDING" areas,
between heat and finals. Top placing cars in finals,
will be inspected at end of derby. If anything is
found, you will be disqualified.
- Water barrels, radi-barrels, radiators, or tranny
coolers are allowed.
Stock Cars
- All cars must be standard makes. No CONVERTIBLES,
IMPERIALS, or IMPERIAL FRAMES.
- No welding on the frame. No reinforcing, plating,
or stuffing hte frame, hood, trunk lid, or body panels.
- Only stock bumper brackets can be welded without
adding extra metal. Shock bumpers allowed if they
were originally equipped on the vehicle.
- May plate Y frame on top only - 16 inches back.
- Motors: factory mounts may be welded. 1/4"
thick x 2" wide straps may be attached to motor
and welded ot frame. No more than 4" of any strap
may be welded to the frame. Straps must be in front
of carburetor and remain behind front pulleys. Motors
may be chained down.
- Doors must be chained or welded. No seam welding
may only use 4" x 4" patches, four per door.
- Headers, tranny coolers, floor shifters, and electric
fuel pumps may be used.
- Driver's door reinforcement may not extend more
than 2" out from body and no more than 6"
past door seams.
- Hood may be bolted or chained but not welded shut.
6 chains or 6 bolts (not larger than 3/4: diameter),
or 6 - 4"x4" patches Only two bolts my go
through the frame. No larger then 6" x 6"
plates and /or washers may be used. MUST HAVE 8"
X 8" HOLE IN HOOD OVER CARBURETOR.
- Trunk lid may be chained or bolted, but not welded
shut. 6 chains or 6 bolts (not larger than 3/4: diameter).
Only two bolts my go through the frame. No larger
then 6" x 6" plates and /or washers may
be used. MUST HAVE 12" X 12" HOLE IN CENTER
OF TRUNK LID FOR INSPECTION, (this means 12x12, not
10" or 11").
- No larger than 3: diameter dash bars allowed. X-brace
from door post to opposite rocker allowed, no larger
than 3" diameter. DASH BAR MAY NOT BE ATTACHED
TO X-BRACE OR THE TOP OF FRAME.
- On hard tops only, one strap or chain may run from
middle of door post up to roof. If strap is used,
it may not be more than 3/16" thick x 3"
wide and not welded more than 8" on the roof.
- NO WATER BARRELS ALLOWED! you can run Radi-barrels
attached to core support only- 2 inches inside frame.
Modified
Cars
- All cars must be standard makes. No convertibles.
- Doors must be welded shut, for the safety of the
drivers.
- Bumpers should be welded on.
- Weld trunk and hood shut.
- Water barrels must be securely fastened down and
vented back and down through floor.
- Must have 10 entries for a contest.
